Home - Who We Are
Local congregations are structures that are very much alive. Whether in the countryside, in the city, within institutions, or a group of individuals, each congregation has its own distinctive profile.
The Evangelical Church in the Rhineland (EKiR) is made up of 719 parishes, organised in 38 church districts. 2.65 million members belong to the local church congregations of the Rhineland Church.
Here you can find all the church districts of the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland.
The Evangelical Church in the Rhineland (EKiR) extends across the area of the former Prussian Rhine Province.
The classic way is to start with baptism, which traditionally means infant baptism. This is the base for reception into the Christian community and into the Evangelical Church.
In the Evangelical Church in the Rhineland there are numerous contact people available. The first address to turn to initially is the minister and/or paid staff members in the local parish. This is where pastoral matters, questions about baptism, confirmation, weddings and funerals will normally be dealt with. The local parish where you live has the prime responsibility for this.
